About the customer

A global semiconductor and infrastructure software company with operations across 30+ countries. With 58,000 employees worldwide, including 14,000 in India, the company is known for its innovation in chip design and enterprise software. As it scaled, managing IT procurement across geographies became increasingly complex. The company needed a smarter, integrated approach to handle device buying, budget visibility, and delivery without overwhelming internal teams.

Business Challenge Our Client Faced

  • The client relied on carrier plans to provide employee devices, which limited flexibility and created management challenges.
  • The client wanted to modernise how employees upgraded devices.
  • Manual procurement and billing created delays and inconsistent tracking
  • Excel-based tracking led to missed insights and errors in device data
  • Corporate and employee budgets were not clearly separated, causing confusion
  • Devices arrived late due to lack of regional logistics control
  • Coordination for payment and confirmation was slow and fragmented
  • No dashboard meant zero real-time visibility for IT or finance

Strategic Solution by Ample

Ample designed and implemented a custom platform tailored to the client’s needs. This solution digitised every step of the buying experience, empowered employees with choice, and gave procurement and finance full control without manual overhead.

  • Held discovery sessions with IT, HR, and procurement to align goals
  • Built a secure Apple buying portal with clear budget controls
  • Integrated SSO for easy login using existing employee credentials
  • Set up regional warehousing to enable faster, smarter delivery
  • Deployed onsite engineers to assist users and provide immediate support

How the Platform Works

We launched a self-device upgrade program, where the client funded $500 per employee through a dedicated SSO-enabled portal. Eligible employees were whitelisted, with the portal auto-invoicing $500 to the employer and any extra paid by the employee. Our platform also overcame challenges in tracking, delivery, and payment coordination.

Here’s how:

  • Auto-enrollment through ABM ensured ready-to-use devices
  • Employee device choice with co-payment options
  • Automated provisioning through portal and backend systems
  • Stock visibility and real-time inventory tracking
  • Multi-mode payment: corporate, employee, EMI
  • Dedicated support teams and on-site presence

Outcomes That Made a Difference

Our digital-first platform helped the client move away from inefficiency and toward a model that worked across functions. The employee experience improved, and it raised their device budget.

  • Zero intervention from procurement teams
  • 25% drop in IT support tickets
  • 40% faster device delivery
  • 15% IT operational cost savings
  • Over 90% employee satisfaction with device experience
